"What is it to be a Zionist? Zionism is the fundamental belief that the Jewish people will only have security in the land given them by G-d, that The Jewish people must return to the land of Israel and follow the Torah.
Jewish history has been filled with countless tragedies. These tragedies have occurred because good people stand by while evil is allowed to exist. As a Zionist I believe that it is our responsibility to defend ourselves, because history has shown that others be they good or bad, will not defend us.
Zionism is not about revenge, it is not about anger, it is about defending our people. The Middle Eastern countries and the Palestinians sit by and allow extremeists to walk among them. The world over nazism is gaining footholds to teach it filth, while acts of anti-semitism are on the rise. The United States attacks its perceived enemies nearly unchecked while criticizing Israel for defending itself from a very real threat. A corrupt United Nations ignores genocide, and allows the blood of innocents to flow so its member nations can profit. Among the nations of the world only Israel is a true safe haven for the Jewish people to grow and prosper."
Excerpts from "Never Again?" by Abraham Foxman
The following are eleven statements that constitute the anti-Semitism index:
1. Jews don't care what happens to anyone but their own kind.
2. Jews are more willing than others to use shady practices to get what they want.
3. Jews are more loyal to Israel than they are to this country (America.)
4. Jews have too much power in the business world.
5. Jews have lots of irritating faults
6. Jews stick together more than any other Americans (or citizens of other countries.)
7. Jews always like to be at the head of things
8. Jews have too much power in the international financial markets
9. Jews have too much power in our country today.
10. Jewish business people are so shrewd that others do not a fair chance to compete
11. Jews are just as honest as other business people [Considered prejudiced if answered "probably false."]
But a prominent feature of the new anti Semitism is its use of anti Israeli politics, sometimes described as anti Zionism, as a mask for anti Semitism (SO BASICLY Anti- Israeli politics=anti Zionism{which is really} ANTI SEMITISM!)
Zionism- support for the existence of a basic Jewish state (e.i. Israel)
Believing that Jews must obtain a homeland of their own is historically based and legitimate. Zionists believe that Israel like other nations has the right to exist in peace within secure borders, and to use force to defend itself from attack when necessary. Zionism is the Jewish nationalism, compared to the nationalism espoused by most other ethnic groups around the world including those with their own states.
(IF INDEED) You declare that you do not hate the Jews, you are merely anti-Zionist. When ppls criticize Zionism, they mean Jews. (!) Anti Zionism is the denial to Jewish ppls of a fundamental right that we justly claim for ppls of Africa and freely accord all other nations of the globe. It is discrimination against the Jews, because they are Jews. In short, it’s anti-Semitism.
Islam and Anti Semitism.
Islam seems to be flowing with Anti Semitism, I don't mean to imply that all Muslims are anti Semitic, or that Muslims are apt to commit violence or other crimes against Jews.( I urge all to go against such stereotypical thought processes, and statements.)
Read on 'Jewish calves and Christian lions..."
It's a small nation surrounded by a large collection of hostile neighbors, some with access o WMD, determined to wipe it from the face of the earth. How would you feel?
Words from
" 'Anti-Semitism' is discrimination upon Jews through the use of false accusation and blaming Jews for false problems."The Israeli Military is not bent on violence on the killing innocent palestinian civilians. 99% of palestinian deaths are of the islamic fundamentalists who target innocent Jewish civilians. The other 1% are accidental casualties. palestinians don't accidentally kill dozens of Israeli Jews in a suicide bombing. Terrorists want violence, the only solution to that is to fight back with greater force."

"As someone who is a firm believer in the Bible I tend to see the existence of Israel as a fulfillment of prophecy and divine promise. As an intellectual I see it as a legitimate political development and a necessary refuge for a persecuted nation. As someone who has often been on the receiving end of persecution I tend to also sympathize with others who are persecuted just because they are different, or unique.
I do not believe the myth that it is possible to hate Israel without hating the Jewish people. Israel is a Jewish nation, and the real reason why people hate it is because it is full of Jews. All the allegations brought against it can be levied in greater number against its neighbors, or against most other countries. These same people who hate Israel do not view other nations with the same level of scrutiny. They do not complain about the Syrian occupation of Lebanon, or the Christians who are persecuted and tortured in China. To say that one hates Israel but not Jews is as ridiculous as claiming that Bin Laden hates the US government but not Americans. (puts on sarcasm hat) Yes…and I suppose that that is why he targeted huge buildings packed with civilians…right… (takes off sarcasm hat)
We are not opposed to ALL “Arabs” nor do we wish to instigate a genocide, contrary to the stereotype(s). Zionism is not inherently anti-Arab, it only seeks to create a nation for the Jewish people which occupies the boundaries stipulated by the Torah. Proportionally the “Arabs” will still have much more land even if Israel reached the size stipulated by the Torah. I put quotations around the term “Arab” because it is really a rather nebulous term which does not truthfully define a race. Technically an Arab is someone of Bedouin descent, or a person originating from the Arabian Penninsula. That would eliminate Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis, and North Africans. Though caucazoid, North African peoples actually are Hametic in origin, as evidenced by their Y chromosomes which have more in common with the black peoples of west Africa. But I digress. I will now show a series of proofs which will demonstrate the legitimacy of the existence of Israel based on different belief systems."
The Biblical Basis For Zionism:
I will say that Zionism is not a modern social construction. Here are a few verses which I picked up one night skimming through the Torah which are the basis for Zionism. Please keep in mind that I found these by skimming and that what I present here is only the tip of the iceburg. Those which I believe are the most significant I will type out here and give my commentary on, the rest you will have to look up for yourselves but I will briefly sum up what they say.
Genesis 15:7
“He also said to him, ‘I am the Lord who has brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.’”—This is the first covenant between YHWH and Abraham.
Genesis 15:13-16 States that the Hebrews will be mistreated in Egypt and afterwards they will return from there in force to take the land and punish the sins of the Amorites.
Genesis 17:8
“The whole land of Caanan, where you are an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.”—BTW, today the area once called Caanan is now called “Palestine” by “atheists” and Islamists. This verse does not mean that if the Romans or someone else scatters the Hebrews away from their homeland that they cannot return, it means that if such a thing happens they can return with God’s blessing.
Genesis 17:19-21
“Then God said, ‘Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will increase his numbers. He will be the father of 12 rulers and I will make him into a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.”—This verse is significant because it shows that the covenant goes through Isaac. This covenant I am referring to includes the land grant. It is the same covenant I have mentioned earlier, and it shows that the covenant is not passed down through Ishmael, who is the father of Arabs. According to the Arabs themselves Ishmael is the father of the Arabs in the northern half of Saudi Arabia.
Exodus 3:7-8 God will bring them to the land of Canaan which will become theirs.
Exodus 23:23 God will help them take the land, and this passage lists who it will be taken from.
Exodus 33:1-2 God reaffirms the covenant and states that it was passed down through Abraham to Isaac to Jacob to all the descendants of Jacob, who are commanded to take the land with God’s help. So this verse by narrowing down the covenant to Jacob eliminates the Edomites (descendants of Esau Jacob’s brother), who are the ancestors of many modern day Jordanians.
Numbers 24:3-9 The oracle of Balaam son of Beor, which is a statement of God’s blessing on the settling of the land.
Numbers 34:1-12 “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Command the Israelites and say to them: “When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance will have these boundaries: Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin along the border of Edom. On the east your southern boundary will start from then end of the Salt Sea, cross south of the Scorpion Pass, continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Asmon, where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt and end at the Sea. Your western boundary will be the coast of the Great Sea. This will be your boundary on the west. For your northern boundary, run a line from the Great Sea to Mount Hor and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the Boundary will go to Zedad, continue to Siphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north. For your eastern boundary, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. The boundary will fo down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Kinnereth. Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Salt Sea. This will be your land with its boundaries on every side.”’”—Now, for those who may not understand all the names mentioned here I will just say this, the territory described here is a bit bigger than the internationally recognized boundary of modern
day Israel, so technically Zionism is not yet complete.
Now folks, there is the Biblical basis for Zionism, it isn’t something that a bunch of guys sitting around a card table came up with after the Holocaust. It is a concept which is way older. The name “Zion” is an ancient name for a hill in Jerusalem. The original meaning of the name Zion has been lost but the word Zionism derives from the notion of a God ordained Hebrew nation in the aforementioned territory with Jerusalem as the capitol, hence the invocation of Mt. Zion in the title.
Modern Socio-Political Support/Basis for Zionism:
Now doubtless any “atheists” or other liberals who just read all that may be thinking, “well religion can’t be used to justify the existence of a nation.” To that my first response is, that is just YOUR OPINION. It is your opinion, and on what basis is your opinion more valuable than mine, orone person’s opinion more valuable than another? It’s enough for me, but since it is not enough for you then I will go on in a more secular and modern fashion.
First of all, land was empty except for Jerusalem when the Jews began returning. As they returned they began to fashion a strong economy. Moslems began immigrating into the land in droves to take advantage of the burgeoning economy. They came primarily from Syria, Egypt, and Jordan. Contrary to what the liberals would like to believe the Jews didn’t come charging in like Crusaders and displace an existing nation. They came in as immigrants and bought land which was largely abandoned and uninhabited. Concerning the emptiness of the land I would recommend examining “Battleground” by Samuel Kantz, “From Time Immemorial” by Joan Peters, “Recollections of the East” by Alphonse de Lamartine, and “Innocents Abroad” by Mark Twain. All of these will account for the emptiness of the land prior to the 20th century and the return of the Jews. To sum it up, the land was empty and the Jews bought it, and Arabs started moving in from surrounding countries to be a part of the burgeoning economy.

Keep up the good work.
I just get so sick of people talking about a "Zionist conspiracy", even at a supposedly "progressive" university dedicated to "critical thinking" about global issues.

For too long the only place to discuss Religious Topics on DA has been the DA Political Forum [link] The Administration of DeviantArt has resisted starting a Religious Forum because there has not been shown enough interest by the Religious Community on DA to go to the trouble, yet thread after thread in the DA Political Forum is about religious topics.
As a Christian, I would like to separate the topics of Politics and Religion so that I may get down to some serious discussions about religions without people interrupting the flow of discussion.
In the first link above, the Parliament of the DA Political Forum has put together a Petition as to why there should be separate Forums. I say the Petition is incomplete without the input of the DA Religious Community as to why they think they should have their own Religious Forum to discuss religious topics.
Help us establish a Religious Forum on DA and you will have your place! I would like to ask your group at this time to put together a similiar Petition, with as many supporting icons, as to why you think you should have your own Religious Forum. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Please note me with your response or any questions.
